To reduce barriers to entry for low to moderate-income and minoritized populations who desire to start new retail enterprises by helping them become financially viable, freestanding, successful business owners through participation in the retail incubator program.

We aim to embrace the rich and vibrant history of the Sharp End and be intentional by nurturing minority business enterprises and underserved populations they can flourish in our community and contribute to a thriving local econom through a cultre of diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging.

The Establishing Partners

In early 2023, The District Downtown CID, REDI, and CMCA came together with an idea that bloomed and, in January of 2024, opened its doors to the public as The Shops at Sharp End. These organizations remain the governing body to The Shops.

The District, Downtown CID, is an eclectic collection of people and businesses in Downtown Columbia, Missouri. Hosting more than 600 businesses, 5000 residents, and 300 property owners.

Central Missouri Community Action’s (CMCA) mission is to build relationships to empower people, strengthen resilience, and improve the quality of life for all members of the community.

Regional Economic Development Inc (REDI) is a public/private partnership committed to creating jobs by attracting new businesses, supporting existing businesses, and growing startups in Columbia and surrounding areas.
